Change & Accountability: HALT Program
HALT is a Domestic Violence Offenders Program designed to assist participants in ending their abusive behaviors towards their intimate partners. Our approach allows us to hold participants accountable for their past or current abusive behaviors while promoting responsibility for change. Many of our participants are referred and/or mandated to attend our program; however, some participants contact our program voluntarily.
In addition to our primary Domestic Violence Offenders Program, we also supervise and provide additional programs, such as:
- Domestic Violence Parenting Program
- Substance Abuse & Domestic Violence Program
- Suffolk County Domestic Violence Probation/HALT Collaboration Program
- S.A.V.E. (Sheriffs Antiviolence Effort) - minimum security DWI Facility
- Female Offender Program
- Educational and Professional Trainings (OASAS Approved)
- New Parenting Anti-Abuse Program
- New Domestic Violence Groups for Veterans, includes: reserves, non-active and active duty
While participation in the HALT Program may be helpful, as with all intervention, it does not guarantee that the abuse will stop. Many partners find it helpful to talk to someone about their safety concerns and their feelings about the abuse.
